I came about Snow Patrol some what skeptically. Being a fan of all the new "The" bands (i.e. The Shins, The Killers, The Kills, The Walkmen, etc) I thought - what is this band in the same genre of my favorite muscical flava (which I admit includes awesome SubPop label Shins along with mediocre but fun Killers)?
It didn't take me long though to appreciate the unique sound and arrangements of Snow Patrol. Fun and upbeat enough to listen to while driving around with friends, yet just the chill music I need when I'm stressing at work, Snow Patrol has done double duty in my CD player (yah, I'm not rich enough to have an iPod yet). The first thing that actually drew me to this CD was the awesome cover art. What an odd setting, it's two parka'd people with day break and summer right behind them, reminds me of Beck songs of the past. I am even into the Snow Patrol/Polar Bear drama- go look this up, it's entertaining.  Upon hearing How To Be Dead and Spitting Games I was hooked. I like the up-beat stuff much more on this album than the ballads but even "Same" makes you drift off into some blistery cold oblvion where you just want to hide out, make collages, and snow-angels all day.
